This group is a space for Hawaiian and Pasifika expecting parents to connect, ask questions, give and receive advice, and talk story.

UA PUKA A MAKA

Postpartum Support Group

Becoming a makua - whether it's your first time, last time, or anywhere in between - is such a transformative experience.

This group is a space for new mākua (parents) Hawaiʻi and Pasifika to make connections, share birth stories and experiences, give and receive advice, and talk about ʻike kupuna and traditional practices related to the postpartum period.

HĀNAI PONO
HOME VISITING

Hanai Pono is a home visiting program for native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander ‘ohana with keiki 0-3yrs old, to receive support and education in pono parenting practices. Just as trauma can be passed down through generations, we strive to create positive change in parenting practices that affect ʻohana wellness for generations.

It’s designed to raise the standard of parenting from basic needs to fostering a loving & literacy rich environment. Through consistent engagement and conversation every moment of a child’s day is not only a teachable one but an opportunity for bonding.

Each family receives kakoʻo from one of our in home parent educators to teach makua a variety of ways to engage their keiki in conversation (e kamailio) and use ordinary daily activities and items to learn through play, but most importantly to build pilina wehena ʻole, an unseverable relationship!
